Happy New Year to Us!

Ok Well I have decided that good health through an entire year for my family is impossible. As is the lack of hospital visits, stays, or surgeries. I started my families new year off with a bang by getting the flu so severely I was in the hospital for re hydration and some medication to stop the vomiting. I then spent the whole next day in bed trying to recover while my poor husband, who had no sleep at all the night before due to my hospital run, tried to catch up on his sleep. My amazingly sweet sister was kind enough to take my kids for the day so that we could attempt to recover from the previous nights events. Meanwhile apparently my adorable son who has the sweetest personality and easiest going attitude ever was suffering from an ear infection, but due to the fact that he is not a complainer he never told anyone that his ear hurt. So this morning he awoke to an earful of blood and as it turns out has a massive ear infection and will probably be having to get tubes put in, yet again. But hey they do say third times a charm right? So while health might not be in abundance in our household the spirit of the lord is. It seems that Satan is trying to throw kinks into our lives. It seems we are always faced with challenges when trying to make the right choices, but the key is in noticing the obstacles and overcoming them together and growing as we do so. So I thank the lord this new year for blessing of my beautiful family and the gospel in our lives. May this new year bring many great things into your lives as well!!

Fun in the Smith household....

One of my kids favorite things to do is to help me make something... They especially like it when I make brownies because they get to lick the spatula and the mixers. Cooking with them is so much fun... now if we could find a way to have it all go over without fighting over who gets to do what... haha. Guess I shouldn't complain about it because they just fight over who gets to help... atleast they want to! And it ends up being so much fun... days like this I love my job!! Just out of curiosity though does anyone know where I could find a super simple pattern to make childrens aprons and chefs hats?? I think it would be fun to make them for them for christmas... plus then I wouldn't have to worry about it getting on their clothes!! Happy baking!

Got this from another blog... so why not??

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember--it can be funny, weird, awkward, random, etc.!
2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

Lovingly frusterated....

ok as amazingly funny, cute, adorable and lovable this little girl is, I swear she is going to have be gray by 30 and dead at a very young age. She is the most mischieveous little thing... I'm having to toddler proof everything. I don't know maybe I was just spoiled by Michael because he is such a good kid, but Kailey gets into everything! And if she isn't getting into something then she is screaming becsause she wants something, or as she puts it needs something. And of course if we don't have the sippy cup in her hands within 2.3 seconds of her asking for it the world is coming to an end! Then if we're not screaming we're climbing. I swear I gave birth to a monkey. Even things you would think can't be climbed... she finds a way. Her favorite is now getting up on counters or the table and dancing. Now her dancing involves jumping so she gives me a near heatr attack everytime she does it. And if on the rare occasion she is being quiet and good... she's asleep :) I think the Lord maybe is trying to teach me something with her, or maybe she is my parents curse upon me... the whole "I hope you have one just like you" only I didn't develope the attitude until I was much much older.... hmmmm maybe she's getting it out her system young??? I just hope I'm not the only one out there that strugles... sometimes I feel like it... anyone have any great suggestions on how to get the shreeking to stop?? I can pretty much deal with everything else fairly well... but the screaming at the top of the lungs, that gets me everytime. I keep thinking that maybe if I could get one thing in check maybe the rest would be easier to deal with and then maybe I can get those things in check as well. I hope no one thinks I'm a bad mom because I struggle with my daughter, but I dunno maybe I am, maybe not. Not like I've done this before.... Help!

Michael's Swim Lessons

We did swim lessons for Michael this year with some of his friends, Sam and Maddy, and boy did he have a good time! He is so proud of his big muscles and conquered his fear of putting his face under the water. He does it all the time in the bath tub now! It's so cute he tries to do his "strokes" in the tub now too... now just if he would have been this gung ho during the actual swim lessons! He did really well though and keeps asking when he can do it again.. so hopefully next year we'll give it a go again.. maybe then Kailey will finally be ok with getting wet and she can take them too! Wishful thinking I'm sure, but hey if you don't have hope as a mother I'd be miserable all the time.
